Collective Bargaining Process in Ontario
We are a composite Local which consists of six units, from DARTS, Lodges (Macassa and Wentworth), Royal Botanical Gardens, Good Shepherd Centres (Women's Services), Hamilton International Airport and the City of Hamilton with both Outside and Inside working groups.
HISTORY:
The Local came about from a merger of the working groups from;
Town of Ancaster
Town of Dundas,
Town of Stoney Creek,
Town of Flamborough,
Town of Glanbrook,
the Regional Municipality of Hamilton-Wentworth,
and the City of Hamilton,
as well as the Hamilton International Airport, and Good Shepherd Centres Women's Services.
The Lodges (Macassa and Wentworth) were merged into one unit due to an arbitrators decision as part of the establishment of the City of Hamilton.
The number 5167 was created upon amalgamation and is a combination of the old Local 5 outside workers and the old Local 167 inside workers.
